For students who are not sure what B1 English is, here is an extract from a story in the book. The B1 words are shown in dark type.
"There was something about the seaside town where Animos lived and had been brought up that she didn’t like. It was obviously beautiful, that’s why so many tourists came nearly all year round to stay there: a white waterfall of little houses that dropped down from the mountain to the sea's edge. Bolonia, a tiny Greek island - shiny and bright in the clear blue of the Mediterranean Sea. Its harbour was full of colourful fishing boats and pleasure boats of all sizes, and around it there were souvenir shops, cafés, restaurants and bars, which were very lively during the summer months."
M. A. Bilbrough has been an English teacher for nearly 30 years. He holds a PhD doctorate from Seville University in second language acquisition methodology. He now specialises in preparing students for the Cambridge English exams. He runs the popular Practising English Podcast available on all major podcast platforms.
